Glow-in-the-dark Mickey Pumpkin DIY

Halloween is quickly creeping up on us so I wanted to share my very first Do It With Cate craft. Today we’re going to make a Glow-in-the-dark Mickey Pumpkin DIY that’s perfect if you want to spice up your house with fall ornaments. We’re, of course, going to make this DIY Disney style by shaping it as the head of the main mouse himself, but you can get inspiration from any character.

This Mickey Pumpkin DIY is very simple and it only requires a few materials and little time. There’s so much you can do with this Do It With Cate, you could use it to plan a fun activity to celebrate Halloween or as spoopy party favor! Make sure to share your creations with me so I can share them on my instagram account @cateatdisney

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

1 Big pumpkin
2 Small pumpkins
Fake leaves
Vine wire
Glitter arrangement wire
Glue gun or strong craft glue
Pliers
A pen or marker

TIME

About 30 minutes

STEPS

1

The first thing you need to do is remove all the wires that might be attached to your materials using the pliers. Make sure not to hurt yourself… or the pumpkins.

2

Grab your king sized pumpkin we’re using as the head and decide where you want to place your small pumpkins to make the ears. Make a little mark with your pen so you know where to put the glue. I turned my big pumpkin over because it looked nicer on the bottom side

3

If you want to make your ornament Oogie style, put two coats of glow-in-dark paint and wait until completely dry. I recommend you paint the pumpkins before you glue them all in place to make sure they’re properly covered.

4

When your glue gun is as hot as Hades hair, carefully put just a drop of glue to cover the marks you made and immediately stick your small pumpkins. Make sure to hold them in place for a few seconds so they stick properly.

5

Next, bend your craft wire to make a shape that you like. For my pumpkin, I went with a sort of (not so) Hidden Mickey. Choose where you want to place it and, again, make a little mark. After you decided where it should go, glue it into place making sure you give it a little hold so it doesn’t move.

6

For the final touch get one fake leaf and glued it to the bottom of your pumpkin right side up. When I made my Mickey Pumpkin I decided not to cut the extra wire of my fake leaf and, instead, I bent it as a kind of mouse tail.

4 – 5 – 6

RESULT

You can be extra spooky with this Do It With Cate Mickey Pumpkin DIY craft by getting creative with the pumpkin shapes you choose. Since we just celebrated Maleficent for National Color day on my Disney Prompts Calendar, I used two long shaped pumpkins to make a Mistress of all Evil pumpkin too! You can’t spell “maldad” without Mal-eficent.

Have fun and craft away!

“In this town we call home, everyone hail to the pumpkin song!”
